What is Juvederm®?
Juvederm® and Restylane® fillers contain a safe, temporary, non-animal form of hyaluronic acid gel, a naturally occurring substance that binds water to cells. Juvederm® and Restylane® are available in a variety of formulations and are injected to fill out furrows, folds, and areas of lost volume in the face. These fillers should not be confused with Botox® Cosmetic, which basically immobilizes muscles. Hyaluronic acid gels and Botox® work wonderfully together as a team. The most common areas treated with Juvederm® and Restylane® are the lips, nasolabial folds, smile lines, and drooping corners of the mouth, lower eyelid depressions and lost volume in the midface and cheeks.
What are the Advantages of Juvederm® and Restylane®?
Juvederm® and Restylane® are smooth, clear gels that "flow" evenly during injection and contain anesthetic for your comfort. The outcomes of treatment with Juvederm® or Restylane® typically last six months or more (sometime for a year) and re-treatments can be performed whenever needed. Injections may result in minor bruising or swelling.
Are Juvederm® and Restylane® safe?
Allergic reactions are so rare that pre-treatment skin testing is not necessary. Juvederm® and Restylane® are also fully reversible with an injectable "antidote" that dissolves these products overnight.
